Crowdsourcing donations for teacher walkouts
This is a work in progress — if you know of a fundraiser or project that should be included, please send it! Will be adding links for Arizona and Kentucky.
Ways to Help in Oklahoma
Donate directly
- Oklahoma Education Association is fundraising for lunches and buses. Donate here: www.gofundme.com/together-we-are-stronger-march
- Freedom Oklahoma is making sack lunches. They’re getting support in part from local food pantries, which means the pantries will also need help down the line. Donate directly to Freedom Oklahoma here, and buy lunch for an educator or student! https://freedomok.bsd.net/page/contribute/Donate
- Oklahoma Community Food Bank is helping feed children who rely on school lunches. Donate or volunteer here: http://okfoodbank.org/supportourstudents/
- Jenks, OK food bank is distributing food to students in the community. Donate here: www.jenksfoodbank.org/feeding_our_trojans_project_4424
Wishlists and fundraisers
- Strike wish list for the Tulsa Classroom Teacher Association, created by Jennifer Thornton: www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1C0X1JFV1Y7U5
- BAUnites4Kids (Broken Arrow, OK) is seeking funding to rent buses in order to transport teachers to the Oklahoma Capitol daily. www.gofundme.com/buses-to-the-capitolbaunites4kids
- Send us your strike-specific wish list! Sharpies and camp chairs aren’t cheap. Just fill out the form at the bottom of this page.
Send food!
- A group of educators is raising money for pizzas — chip in for a pie here: www.gofundme.com/7ywtt5-pizzas-for-oklahoma-teachers
- We’re working to create a list of easy ways to send food to the teachers. In the meantime, you can just literally call a restaurant nearby, tell them you want to order some food and have it sent to the Capitol grounds.
Why are they striking?
Read about why they’re striking, what they’re asking for, find travel information, and get details on each day’s agenda at. http://standwithteachers.org/
Talk to a legislator
If you’re in Oklahoma, work with your local groups. If you’re not in/from Oklahoma, don’t call Oklahoma legislators! Instead, let your local representatives know that you support the walkouts, prioritize education funding, and will be voting.

About us: we’re public-school parents in other states who wanted to find a way to support educators across the country as they stand up and fight for funding for their students, so we’re building this page to gather together different ways to help. It’s a work in progress — if you know of a fundraiser or project that should be included, please send it! Will be adding links for Arizona and Kentucky.
